Class 45

 

The Class 45 locomotives were a direct result of the modernisation programme Class 44's. Fitted with a Sulzer 12cyl 12LDA28-B engine and Crompton Parkinson traction motors these locomotives were the mainstay of London Midland Region services. All withdrawn by 1989, 12 now survive in preservation.

Numbers: 45 001 - 45 077 (steam heating)
45 101 - 45 150 (electric train heating)
