Class 50

This fleet of 50 Type 4 locomotives were built by English Electric from information and traction experience gained from their prototype DP2 . The locomotives were built to a BR design panel specification, but remained the property of English Electric being leased to BR. The locomotives were eventually sold to BR. Their main line roles finished in 1992, but amazingly 18 out of the original 50 of these popular locos now survive in preservation.
