1958-60.Duel
pick-up 750vdc locomotives built for the Southern Region. Originally
24 locomotives were built but ten were selected to be converted to
electro-diesels, the machines becoming Class 74.
Equipment: Motor generator booster set and four 638hp English Electric spring-borne traction motors driving through SLM flexible drive. System: 750vdc third rail & overhead. Numbers: 71 001-71 014.
