With only three months left in service the final class 24 to be withdrawn, 24 081, undergoes movements at Crewe, 18th July 1980. To the rear stand Class 47's Nos. 47 705 & 47 273 along with Class 40 No. 40 177. Also of interest in this photograph is the Cowens 76 tonne breakdown crane, a diesel-hydraulic conversion (at Derby Locomotive Works) from steam, the locomotive propelled snowplough, and the 'Italian Job' mini!
