
With the announcement in the late 1970's of the naming of the entire classes of 50 & 87, certain depots noted a relaxation of the rule 'corporate blue and no names'. Selected locomotives started emerging with unofficial embellishments which were soon removed. 31 413 is seen moving away from London Paddington with a rather crudely painted grey waistband stripe, which the locomotives supported in their previous green livery, possibly applied by Old Oak Common depot.
