As with other designs, the Class 37 featured front end modifications throughout their build. Here 37 023 supports central gangway doors and split headcode boxes. Later examples carried the central four character box with a less cluttered front end. At this later date, the locomotives buffer skirts have been removed, oval buffers have been added, and the train identifiers now carry marker lights. Liverpool Street, 11th July 1981.
