Unfortunately the dank, dark conditions of the melt shop at Crewe Works prevented a better shot than this of this unidentified Class 40 undergoing its final days. The roof section has been lifted for removal of its engine and easy access to the bodysides for the oxy-acetylene torches. It would not be long before the locomotive would be no more.
