A locomotive that never recieved 'Rail Blue!' 40 106 was reported to have been the last loco to carry the Brunswick Green livery and was selected by BR for special duties and railtours. It is seen here at Derby Locomotive Works were it was fitted with a donor engine from a scrap example. Although the machine was pictured in the paint shop, the expected new coat of green was, in fact, never applied. Two more photos of the locomotive at this location can be found here. 40 106 is one of the 7 members of the class that survive today and can be found at the Nene Valley Railway.
