'Warship' 818 Glory at Swindon Works in the mid-1970's. The machine was initially saved from the cutters torch by the works for use by apprentices on various locomotive training exercises. It lasted until 1985 when, with the controversial closure of the plant, the diesel-hydraulic was quickly reduced to scrap before any forthcoming preservation attempts could be mounted. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the locomotive was little more than a bodyshell at this time.

The final indignity for Glory at Swindon works in 1985.
