A withdrawn 45 041 Royal Tank Regiment demonstrates a re-railing exercise to the public at Crewe Basford Hall open day on the 28th August 1995. Removed from traffic some seven years earlier, and looking much the worst for its neglect, the locomotive eventually reached the preservationists. Today the machine can be viewed, restored to its former glory, at the Midland Railway Centre. For a recent photo click here.
