Back to the early days of BR's 'new' policy of naming locomotives, and after the unofficial placement of Great Eastern plates on 47 460,(see here) 47 169 became the recognised example. The locomotive is pictured here just three weeks after naming, resplendent with silver roof and red bufferbeams, heading north through Retford, 31st March 1979.
