47 403 stands ex-works at Crewe, 6th June 1981. The locomotives doors seem to be only recently fitted and have yet to be painted. It is unlikely that this machine has been run outside the works confines after this overhaul. 403 was the third production Class 47 and emerged as D1502 in November 1962 and went on to be named The Geordie in February 1982.
