50 041 Bulwark nears the end of its refurbishment visit at Doncaster Works in October 1981. All that remains is a final paint into large-logo livery and a full test of all its systems before it is released back on to the rail network. This costly work would only give the locomotive a further nine years of work before withdrawal.
