50 039 Implacable with a westbound train at Bristol Temple Meads, 17th August 1980. Withdrawn on the 4th June, 1989, 50039 was cut up at Old Oak Common. In 1981 it was rumoured that 20 of these machines were to be transferred to the Eastern Region to coincide with the introduction of the Mk3 sleepers on the route. The move never came.
