After withdrawal 74 010 was sent to Derby for the possible use by the Research Centre. Little is documented about if ever the locomotive ever reached its final destination and it appears that the machines next move was to Doncaster where it was eventually scrapped in October 1979. 74 010 is pictured on Derby shed, 13th October 1978.
