In 1977, it was announced surprisingly, that all the Class 87 locomotives were to receive names along with the Class 50 diesels. Here, a pre-named 87 011 pulls away from Crewe with a southbound express, 6th May 1978. Later the same month 87 011 became The Black Prince.
