First of the Western Regions Permanent Way Machines, PWM650, by this time (1980's) with its TOPS number 97650. This pioneer example was uniquely fitted with a donkey engine; a small prime mover that started the main engine as opposed to a starter motor or generator. 650 today can be viewed at the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway.
