Derby built Type 4 Sulzer No. D1 Scafell Pike  stands with sister machine D5 Cross Fell  at Toton on the 21st April 1968. This class of ten locomotives survived long enough to receive TOPS numbers (44 001 - 10) with the last three members (44 004/7 & 8) bowing out of traffic in December 1980.
