Great Gable, seen here at Swanwick at the Midland Railway Centre soon after preservation, when it was returned to its original brunswick green livery. The withdrawn locomotive moved here from Toton depot under its own power on the 23rd June 1981 after a short handing over ceremony.

16th May 2004, and by this time 44 004 had been returned, yet again, to its rail blue colours. Great Gable is pictured with the Midland Railway Centre's resident Class 37 locomotive No. 37 190.
