Recently re-liveried into BR blue, 08 590 Red Lion is pictured at its usual location, Butterley at the Midland Railway Centre, 13th February 2010. An MRC veteran, the locomotive arrived at the railway in a drab black livery and then spent many years in an equally unappealing maroon colour. This latest repaint is a credit to its owners with authentic Class 08 data vinyl and Landore (LE) depot sticker. In the final years of BR the machine was resident on the Eastern Region finally being withdrawn from Heaton depot in September 1993. A photo from its days based at Cambridge can be viewed here.
