The 1977 British Rail Passenger Network Map

Freely available to all the traveling public in 1977, the Passenger Network Map provided a simple but comprehensive guide to travel in the United Kingdom. Although only thirty years old, subtle changes to the rail network we see today can be noticed. Of note is Butlins Filey Holiday Camp station north east of Hull and York, the station and the popular holiday destination are now long since part of history! The map is reproduced below in its entirity. Note: Due to the very thin paper the scans are not entirely perfect and show the original creases, and in some cases, feint traces of the reverse of the sheet. Unfortunately, this could not be avoided. Warning: These pages contain very large images and may take some time to appear for dial-up users!
