At a later date, the locomotive sub-classes were moved down a digit;
i.e. 47/1 became 47/0 matching
the
numbers 47 001-299.
The originally first numbered locomotive became the last under the new
scheme, as the new TOPS
computer system could not recognise numbers with a suffix ending in
'000'. e.g. D400 became the last
Class 50 - 50 050.
In certain cases the first originally numbered locomotive took the
number that should have been
allocated to a withdrawn member of the class, e.g.
D8000 became 20 050 (D8050 withdrawn) & D200
became 40 122 (D322 withdrawn).
Class 45, 47 & 86 locomotives were renumbered as they entered works
for overhaul, thus no direct link
between the locomotives old and new number could be made.
The above table is 'as published' and other minor changes were
implemented as renumbering
commenced.
