The 'Westerns' That Never Were!

Prior to the design of the popular Class 52 'Western' locomotives, few people realise that 100 names were put forward for an expected larger build than actually emerged. Perhaps if history had been re-written and the diesel hydraulic locomotives had proved more of a success, the following official list of named locomotives could have been viewed between Paddington and the West Country.
