Class 08 shunter no. 08 843 stands in one of the south bay platforms, 28th November 1978.

The 1980's remodeling of the trackwork saw little use for the west side of the station; these two platforms were dedicated to parcel, mail and newspaper activities during their latter years, work which has been virtually wiped out on the BR network today, and although these areas are still open to the public, they serve little purpose. Here the trackwork were 08 843 once stood has been completely lifted and the weeds have taken hold. Note also that not one pane of glass remains in the sightscreens to the rear of these platforms. 28th October 2003.
