Class 55 Deltic No 55 003 Meld enters Doncaster with a train bound for the capital, 10th November 1979.

I returned to Doncaster with a view to replicating the shot taken in May 1978 of 31 143 from the large car park that once overlooked the north end of the station. From the above photograph its now quite clear that I was somewhat late! Recent demolition sees the car park, pictured to the right in the top photo, along with many of the other station facing buildings recently razed to the ground. Of note is the church, still standing proud, in the centre of all the chaos.
