Top: The 1st of August 1974 and the then familiar sight of a Western pounding through Exeter St. Davids. D1059 Western Empire heads south through the station with a freight working. Today there seems little difference to that of thirty-one years ago. The centre road on which the Western is traveling has long since been lifted, and the first generation DMU has been replaced by a Wessex Trains Class 150 further down the platform. Unfortunately I couldn't replicate my spotting bag sitting at the base of the signal!
