Class 40 No. 40 055 stands stabled on one of the sideroads with empty coaching stock, 5th August 1979.

Its hard to believe that this is the same location, but reference can be made with the same raised concrete plinth and manhole cover in between tracks four and five seen in both photographs. Gone are the buildings to the rear of the Class 40 and the bridge decking has been changed, possibly due to road improvements. The above shot shows Class 47 No. 47 756 'Royal Mail Tyneside' standing in the same position, and again, with empty coaching stock. It seems that this location hasn't changed its use in over twenty years! 15th July 2003.
