The then 'new' APT-P 370 004
stands on the top yard as an exhibit at the 1979 open day on the 3rd September.
To the left is 4 (electrical) shop and opposite are the generator, and just
visible, bogie shops. Today there is no evidence left of these buildings or any
trace of the former top yard. The road seen leads to the new station car park
which is located directly in front of the old office buildings. In the
background the old 9 shop can be seen, now owned by Bombardier Transportation
and serving as their bogie division. 8, or the erecting shop, was demolished as
part of the redevelopment of the site, and now serves as a car park for the
company.
Below:- Taken from to the right of the billboard in the top photo, this August
2008 shot shows that all traces of the works main engineering buildings have now
disappeared and yet another new development rises on the former Derby Locomotive
Works premises.
